Add some interest to an old favorite with Lavender essence. I added 1/4 teaspoon to the batter and baked as usual. Pictured above is yellow cake frosted in chocolate pudding (my husband’s secret trick).
You can buy the essence at a specialty food store and the amount you use will depend on the concentrate used. If you can taste it in the batter you will taste it a little more once baked.
Lavender also goes well with lemon and white cake and I like to use orange in chocolate cake.
